Damn you Last Comic Standing! After you break our hearts, eliminate our friends, and make us think we’re through you suck us back in again. Norm Macdonald is on board as a judge, Anthony Jeselnik is hosting, and you’ve featured some of our favorites in your Round One promo. How can we help but be back in even though we know you’ll break our hearts again.
The promo for the upcoming season of “Last Comic Standing” shows what’s new this year. There’s a new host, a new judge and Roseanne Barr has a new hair color. Anthony Jeselnik is the new LCS host taking over for J.B. Smoove and Norm Macdonald joins the judges panel replacing Russell Peters who is back on tour. And Roseanne is now blonde. Not everything’s changing though. LCS will have the same format that it returned to NBC with last year. The opening round is by invite only. 100 of the best stand ups working around the country were selected to try out for the 20 spots that will make it on to the show.
Some of the comics you’ll spot in the new LCS promo include Andy Erikson, Junior Stopka out of Chicago, Ms. Pat and the mighty Joe List. You may remember that Joe List was the comedian that outlasted 48 other comics last NFL season to win the Comedian Highlander Football Challenge. He walked away with the championship helmet which he promptly donated to a good cause. If Joe List can make it through the most grueling football pool of all time then “Last Comic Standing” should be no problem. You know what this means– it’s the summer of Joe all over again.
“Last Comic Standing” returns with a 2 hour season 9 premiere on Wednesday, July 22nd at 9pm et on NBC. LCS moves to its regular one hour show and time at 10pm et on Wednesday, July 29th.
