The Check Spot, hosted by Emma Willmann is a new radio show debuting on Raw Dog Comedy SiriusXM 99 this Tuesday, March 1. This new show will be the on-air equivalent to the slot given to brand new comics in NYC comedy clubs, aka “the check spot” (hence the show’s name.) This is incredibly exciting news for listeners and aspiring comics alike as it will give up-and-coming comedians a chance to show off their chops through clips from their comedy albums and interviews.
Emma and her producer Aaron Hodgess write on the SiriusXM Blog, “we’re gonna put together a show that’ll bring more excitement to Raw Dog and help comedians get exposure to a large audience of comedy fans.” The blog is accompanied by a video of Emma encouraging comics to submit their material. The first episode will feature Paul Virzi’s Night At The Stand, Nick Cobb’s Too Broke For Therapy and Steph Tolev’s Hot N’ Hungry comedy albums.
Emma Willmann herself is a rising comic and from her credits, we’d all be smart to keep an eye on her in 2016. She was recently selected to perform at the prestigious Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal, she’s also appeared at The Glasgow International Comedy, the SiriusXM South Beach Comedy Festival, and the New York Comedy Festival. Willmann beat out hundreds of comedians to be named one of the “10 Funniest Comics in NYC” by Caroline’s on Broadway as part of the New York’s Funniest Competition and was named by Time Out NY as one of the “10 Funniest Woman in NYC,” and “100 Woman We Love,” by GO Magazine, and you can hear her regularly on SiriusXM’s Bennington show.
The Check Spot, is sure to be a hilarious show with a lot of new material from fresh voices. Be sure to tune in to Raw Dog Comedy SiriusXM 99 on Tuesday, March 1 at 3 pm ET.
