‘David Brent: Life on the Road’ Coming to Netflix Next Month!

Long ago, on a radio show far, far away (called Opie with Jim Norton), comedian/actor Ricky Gervais let slip that the follow-up to his smash-hit show The Office had been picked up by Netflix. The film, called David Brent: Life on the Road, saw a theatrical release in the UK last summer, but details on when it’d be coming to Netflix were slim. Now, we have a release date.

Audiences will be able to see Gervais reprise his role as the hapless David Brent on Friday, February 10th. Life on the Road will be shot mockumentary style, like The Office, and will check back in on the life of David Brent, the former Wernham Hogg Paper Company office manager who, 12 years later, has ditched his white collar for a guitar strap in pursuit of his rock and roll dreams. Brent, ever oblivious, thinks the film crew is shooting a Shine a Light-style rockumentary about his rise to fame, when in reality they’re simply checking in on him to see just how delusional he still is. Spoiler alert: the answer is very.

If you haven’t seen it yet, you can check out a trailer for the movie below:
