The Dave Chappelle – Hartford CT Feud Is Over

The Oddball Comedy Festival had a surprise guest in Hartford, Saturday night and it was a person that most people in Hartford wouldn’t have guessed. Dave Chappelle.
Nearly one year after being heckled and booed off the stage in front of an audience at the 30,000 seat Comcast Theatre in Hartford, Connecticut, Chappelle was the surprise closing comedian at the Oddball Fest show. He was introduced to the crowd by the scheduled headlining comedian, Louis CK. According to a report in the New York Times, Louie “…finished his set, started walking offstage, only to stop, return to the microphone and dramatically tell everyone to stay, before introducing Mr. Chappelle.” This time around, the audience totally embraced Chapelle – cheering his introduction, laughing and enjoying his set and staying quiet when they needed to let him work.
Last year at the Comcast Theatre was a different story. After leaving his last Hartford show, Chappelle continued to go after the city. He promised to never return, “not even for gas.” He also hoped publicly that North Korea would drop a nuclear device on Hartford. And he made some side money making “Fuck Hartford” t-shirts. This all led to the Hartford mayor making his own statement on the situation, saying – “Dave Chappelle needs to quit whining, do his job and try some yoga.”
As for making up with an entire city, Chappelle said – “I was really immature” referring to his appearance a year ago. He also apologized for the t-shirts.
Other comedians on the Oddball Festival Comedy Tour who performed in Hartford on Saturday included Sarah Silverman, Hannibal Buress, Dave Attell, Amy Schumer and Aziz Ansari.
