Christopher Guest’s ‘Mascots’ Coming to Netflix This Fall

This week, Netflix announced a release date for the their long-hyped original series by director/writer Christopher Guest (This Is Spinal Tap, Waiting for Guffman).

Called Mascots, the new project is a comedy film that will dive headfirst into the dog-eat-dog world of sports mascots and their pursuit of the most venerable award in their field, the “Gold Fluffy.” The movie has a solid cast attached, with stars such as Jane Lynch (Best In Show, The 40-Year-Old Virgin), Fred Willard (This Is Spinal Tap, Anchorman), comedian Brad Williams, Ed Begley Jr. (This Is Spinal Tap, A Mighty Wind), and Chris O’Dowd (Family Tree, Bridesmaids) and many others all on board. Guest wrote the film alongside Jim Piddock, who helped him create and write the HBO/BBC original series Family Tree.

Mascots will premiere this September at the Toronto International Film Festival, with an international release to follow on October 13th. You can get more information on the film at netflix.com.
