The Chris Gethard Show Returns To The Air

Chris Gethard got married, took a few weeks off and decided the fate of his public access TV show.
In a blog post on his Tumblr page, Chris talked about taking a hiatus to decide if he still wanted to continue doing “The Chris Gethard Show”. Chris wrote about his love for his show, but questioned with his crew if it was still the right thing to do. He wrote – “…We sat down and really thought hard about if it was time to end the show with me getting married and all of us wanting to pursue different things professionally. I don’t want to hold anybody back. I don’t want to hold myself back! Dru for example, wrote me and was like ‘I don’t know if I can put in as much time anymore, I’m hungry to really go for it.’ And I’m all for that. I want that for everybody who’s ever worked hard on this show.”
Chris has decided to keep doing the show, but there’s going to be some changes as to how he does it. “So TCGS is back. But it won’t be the same. It will probably be simpler and more stripped down and full disclosure – we are going to work less hard on it (but hopefully have just as much fun with it). We probably won’t be doing too many more episodes where we make robot suits and fight, or build set pieces where we construct big fake time machines. That stuff takes time and effort that a lot of our cast and crew at this point deserve to put elsewhere.”
Chris added he has no idea what the new show is going to be like and he expects to lose some viewers, but one thing remains the same, he’s excited about what’s going to happen next.
The Chris Gethard Show airs Wednesday nights at 11 pm et on MNN, New York City public access television. You can also catch episodes at TheChrisGethardShow.com.
