‘The Chris Gethard Show’ Premieres on truTV Next Month: Check Out the New Trailer!

Back in May, it was announced that comedian Chris Gethard’s beloved variety/talk show hybrid, The Chris Gethard Show, had been picked up by truTV. At the time, little was known about what to expect from the show, except that it would be broadcast live, the first series to do so on a national cable network. Now, we finally have that nugget of information that we’ve all been waiting for: The Chris Gethard Show will debut live on truTV on Thursday, August 3rd at 11 p.m. ET.

For the uninitiated, TCGS is essentially a TV circus. Gethard plays ringleader to a panel of comedians and celebrity guests as they partake in bizarre games, perform crazy stunts, and generally react to the controlled chaos going on around them. The show, which began as a live stage show before transitioning to public access TV and then the Fusion network, is renowned for its high energy, unpredictability, and focus on musical guests and other artists. Previous guests on the show include Amy Poehler, Will Ferrell, P. Diddy, Paul Giamatti and many more.

In anticipation of the upcoming debut, truTV has released a new trailer and promo for the show. The trailer in particular does a good job of showing what we can expect from the new season, with familiar faces like Ellie Kemper, Jon Hamm, Jason Sudeikis, Paul Scheer and Kumail Nanjiani popping up doing unsurprisingly-crazy things.
