Prepare to return to Camp Firewood! It’s been awhile since the initial announcement of Wet Hot American Summer: 10 Years Later, but now we finally have a release date. Netflix has announced that the show will be debuting on the platform on Sunday, August 6th.
When we last saw McKinley, Susie, Coop, Andy, Beth and the gang, they were reminiscing about their crazy summer on the stoop of one of Camp Firewood’s cabins. Before they left, Ben (Bradley Cooper) had the group of friends take an oath: That in ten years, they’d all get back together and “see what kind of people we’ve blossomed into.” In the upcoming season, the friends stick to that promise, returning to Camp Firewood ten years later as their different-yet-totally-the-same selves for another summer of debauchery.
Wet Hot American Summer has always been a who’s who of comedic actors, and this upcoming series is looking like it’s going feature more big names than ever before. The vast majority of the original cast is returning, including Michael Ian Black, Amy Poehler, Michael Showalter, Elizabeth Banks, Molly Shannon, Paul Rudd, Jason Schwartzman, Janeane Garofalo, Kristen Wiig, H. Jon Benjamin, Joe Lo Truglio, John Early, David Wain and more. In addition, a few new faces will be joining the cast, namely Adam Scott, Alyssa Milano, Samm Levine, Dax Shepard, Marlo Thomas, Joey Bragg, Jai Courtney, Skyler Gisondo, and Mark Feuerstein. One member of the main cast has not yet been announced to be returning, however: Bradley Cooper. Cooper’s absence from the cast is ironic seeing as how it was Cooper’s character, Ben, who proposed the reunion to begin with. While his name isn’t listed as a part of the show at the moment, it’s entirely possible that Cooper will make a cameo at some point in the series.
