‘Bridesmaids’ Creator Annie Mumolo to Star in New Fox Sitcom

Some news from the sitcom world: Bridesmaids creator and The Groundlings member Annie Mumolo has just landed one of the starring roles in the Fox comedy Amy’s Brother, according to Variety. In doing so, Mumolo is re-uniting with Melissa McCarthy, who was a co-star in Bridesmaids and who will now executive produce the show alongside her husband/writing partner Ben Falcone (also of Bridesmaids fame), Mumolo, and former Saturday Night Live and 30 Rock director Beth McCarthy-Miller. Together, they form a potent foursome with years of experience under their belt, experience that gives this new show a lot of potential.

Amy’s Brother will tell the story of Amy (Mumolo) and her two kids who, for reasons unknown, are forced to move in with Amy’s brother. The two, who have clashing personalities, aren’t exactly on great terms, but they must now find a way to coexist under one roof.

No word yet on who will be playing Amy’s brother. Mumolo herself recently made appearances in films like Bad Moms and the Falcone/McCarthy feature The Boss, and on shows like Netflix’s Lady Dynamite. With plans to produce and star in a new project with Kristen Wiig, Mumolo’s star is clearly on the rise, and she’s not showing any signs of slowing down anytime soon.
