Bill Burr on Trump Winning: “You’re Gonna Be Fine”

Bill Burr knows he voted on Tuesday, he just can’t remember who for. That’s what he told Conan O’Brien the day after America elected Donald J. Trump as President. This may help us narrow it down though. Burr told Conan that he definitely didn’t vote for Trump or Hillary Clinton. He couldn’t stand either major party candidate. For Hillary, he said it was her wardrobe choices that lost her Bill Burr’s vote.

Conan brought the comedian and host of the Monday Morning podcast on his show to talk about the fallout from the Presidential election. One of Burr’s first thoughts was that nothing is going to change despite who’s in the White House, telling Conan and his audience and viewers, “you’re going to be fine”. He pointed out that Obama hasn’t been directly involved in anyone’s life, so a new President shouldn’t be that much cause for concern.

However, he did find Donald Trump’s election “astounding”. Not that it needed to be pointed out, but Burr put it in frighteningly blunt terms, “The star of a reality show is going to run the country.” Good or bad, that is astounding. What made it so amazing to Bill Burr is that Trump’s universal answer to questions about what his plans as President would be was “You’ll see. You’ll see”. He called the President-Elect, the “greatest shit talker of all time”. Speaking of Trump’s plans, Burr did mock his idea for building the Great Southern Border Wall adding that the amount of trips to Home Depot alone would make it unfeasible.

Other things Bill Burr discussed about the election which you can watch in the clips below included, how celebrity endorsements actually hurt candidates’ chances, how moving to Canada isn’t exactly moving to a liberal paradise and how we don’t need to worry about children being influenced by Donald Trump.

Bill Burr’s bottom line is he doesn’t think the Trump administration will be as bad as people say and he just hopes the election brings a stop to all the screaming and yelling in the country. Good luck with that one Bill.

This Saturday, Bill Burr will be part of Comics Come Home in Boston at TD Garden. Along with Bill, the event features Lenny Clarke, Nick DiPaolo, Robert Kelly, Jay Larson, Wendy Liebman and Wanda Sykes and will be hosted by Denis Leary.
