Bill Burr on Which is More Exciting: Becoming a Dad or the Patriots in the Super Bowl

Bill Burr had a weekend that will beat out just about everyone else’s weekend and it had nothing to do with show business. Last Friday, he became a first time father and then on Sunday, his New England Patriots booked yet another trip to the Super Bowl. Bill didn’t do any stand up on this appearance. After the weekend he had, there was plenty to just talk about. So, he sat down with Jimmy Kimmel to discuss new babies and football.

As excited as Bill was to become a new dad to a baby girl, he said his “Fight or Flight” instincts were still kicking in when he dropped his wife off at the hospital and then, in a panic, went to park the car. His thoughts at that moment weren’t about being a father, they were about hitting the gas and just driving away. “Flight” was the prevailing instinct in that moment. The good news is that Bill Burr did do the right thing and went back to his wife in the hospital. However, the delivery room wasn’t a joyful experience for new daddy Burr. He wanted to “stay North of the sheet” and avoid seeing “all that ‘Saving Private Ryan’ stuff”. The new dad also talked to Jimmy Kimmel about cutting the umbilical cord, the scam behind baby car seats and why he felt like a “serial killer” after his daughter was born. You can watch all of it in the clips below.

As for the Boston comic’s favorite team, the New England Patriots, Bill had to watch the game last Sunday in the hospital on a crappy hospital TV where he couldn’t even make out the score and was begging the announcers to please say it. Jimmy Kimmel also asked him about the fans’ obsession with Tom Brady. Bill redirects that obsession to where it really lies with football fans.

While Bill’s personal life is at an all-time high, so is his professional. He talked about finding just the right place to shoot his brand new special. He chose the world famous Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee. He’s got a great reason for picking a Southern venue. You can also hear about that and Bill talk about his Monday Morning Podcast which you can hear at BillBurr.com.

Bill Burr’s brand new special, “Walk Your Way Out” premieres Friday, January 31 on Netflix. Plus, congratulations to Bill and Nia Renee.
