ABC Doing Comedy Pilots With Fortune Feimster And “Uncle Buck”
Fortune Feimster is getting a comedy pilot order from ABC. Fortune will star in the Tina Fey produced sitcom pilot based on her life. Fortune stars as a North Carolina gym teacher who comes out to her family and friends. The team of Fey and Feimster have been working together trying to get a series starring Fortune into production. They had a commitment from FOX for a comedy called “Cabot College” about an all girls college that is now allowing men in. That commitment fell through at FOX. The new project reunites Tina Fey and Fortune Feimster with Tina’s writing partner, Robert Carlock. Tina and Robert just launched the show they wrote and created for Ellie Kemper, “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” on Netflix.
According to Deadline, ABC is also moving forward with a pilot for a television version of the 1989 John Hughes film, “Uncle Buck” which starred John Candy in the lead role. This won’t come as good news to the Hughes and Candy families. The families have publicly said that both the director and the star would have hated this idea and were insulted that ABC never let them know a pilot was in the works.
