Who’s on Late Night Tonight in Comedy?

This week, all the hosts are still on vacation, Conan lines up comedy Best Of’s, and oh yeah, 2020 is finally over!

Even though we’re getting a new year by the end of this week, we won’t be getting any new episodes of our late night talk shows. The hosts are on vacation and they’ve picked out some reruns featuring fantastic comedy guests this week.

Monday is loaded with comedy repeats definitely worth staying up late for just in case you missed them the first time around. Chris Rock is appearing on a rerun of the Late Late Show with James Corden on Monday evening while at the same time, Seth Meyers is replaying a Late Night episode starring special guest Nick Kroll.

Earlier that night, Stephen Colbert is re-airing an episode of the Late Show and his Best Of Colbert guest will be our first Covid celebrity Tom Hanks. In a non-comedy highlight, on Monday, Jimmy Fallon has a Tonight Show repeat with musical guest Bruce Springsteen. Not bad for a Monday full of reruns.

Looking at Conan O’Brien’s repeat schedule on TBS, on Monday, Team Coco has a repeat with guest John C. Reilly. Then on Tuesday, you can relive an episode of Conan with guest Zach Braff. Wednesday night, Conan has Laci Mosley on his repeat schedule. Laci has one of the most popular podcasts around called “Scam Goddess” which is available on EarWolf. She also performs with UCB Los Angeles. This is definitely a Conan rerun worth catching the second time.

A couple of our late night hosts have added some politics to their week long repeats. Tuesday night on the Late Show, Stephen Colbert replays his interview with the new First Family of the United States, President-Elect Joe Biden and Dr. Jill Biden who becomes the First Lady on January 20th. Not to be outdone, Thursday evening, Jimmy Fallon re-airs his interview with former President Barack Obama on the Tonight Show. If you’re a politically active Democrat who likes rerun variety shows, this is the week for you.

On Wednesday, get ready to go retro and back to the 90’s. Millennials feeling nostalgic will want to catch Wednesday night’s Tonight Show repeat. Jimmy Fallon will have as his guests the stars of the kids Saturday morning comedy show, “Saved By The Bell.” Zack, Slater, Kelly and Jessie from Bayside High School will be Jimmy’s guests. Sorry. No Screech included in this Tonight Show repeat.

Programming Note: There will be no Jimmy Kimmel Live rerun on Thursday night, December 31st. JKL is being pre-empted for ABC’s New Year’s Eve coverage. Stepping in for Kimmel will be “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest 2021.” Of course, if you want the New Year’s Eve Odd Couple, click over to CNN where it’s “New Year’s Eve Live with Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen.” Anderson & Andy will have plenty of musical guests including the Goo Goo Dolls, Jimmy Buffett, Jon Bon Jovi, John Mayer and Carole Baskin from the “Tiger King” docu-series. Wait. What!?

If you want a little more comedy with your New Year’s Eve celebration, there’s “FOX’s New Year’s Eve Toast & Roast 2021.” It’s hosted by Joel McHale and Ken Jeong with music stars and surprise celebrity guests. Or if you want to pack it in early on New Year’s, NBC has Carson Daly as your emcee for “NBC’s New Year’s Eve 2021.” (yawn) Carson’s audience will be asleep before the ball finishes dropping.

This weekend, Saturday Night Live will still be on vacation, but NBC is airing one of our favorite episodes from this season so far. John Mulaney will be the host on Saturday’s SNL rerun. Mulaney has hosted every season for 4 straight years and SNL always kicks it up when former Saturday Night Live writer John Mulaney is in Studio 8-H. The big song & dance production sketch in every Mulaney SNL is absolutely worth a second viewing.
