Who is On Late Night Tonight in Comedy: Week of November 16, 2020

Who’s on Late Night Tonight in Comedy?

This week, Corden gets the scoop on Rudy, Kimmel brings sexy back and SNL replays Burr’s debut.

Great comedy guests fill the schedules and virtual couches of all our late night shows this week. We’ve got legends, soon-to-be legends and even some great repeats. Always be sure to check the full listings below to find who’s being funny in late night television.

Monday starts off strong with Ricky Gervais making an appearance on Conan. Gervais is currently working on the scripts for a 3rd series (what the Brits call “seasons”) of his smash hit Netflix series “After Life.” As the creator of the most watched British TV series two years in a row, Gervais has never done a 3rd season of any of his shows. This will be a first in response to the huge outpouring of support “After Life” has received in the press and on social media.

Also on Monday, David Cross will be a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live. The comedic star of “Mr. Show” and “Arrested Development“, will be promoting a dramatic project. Cross stars in “The Dark Divide” which is currently available On Demand. He stars as real life butterfly expert Robert Michael Pyle who went on a expedition through the Pacific Northwest after losing his wife.

And “Borat” fans, get ready for the Late Late Show with James Corden on Monday night. Corden’s guest will be Maria Bakalova who co-stars in the new comedy sequel “Borat Subsequent Moviefilm.” She’s gained notoriety as the actress who is featured in the now infamous “Rudy Giuliani Hands-Down-His-Pants Scene.” Stay up late Monday night to hear all about how America’s former Mayor turned national creepy old guy ended up exploring his own trousers in the latest “Borat” project.

On Tuesday, Jimmy Kimmel Live gets sexy. One of the guests on JKL will be the lucky dude announced as the 2020 People Magazine annual “Sexiest Man Alive.” As of now, our pick is Rudy Giuliani for his work in “Borat.”

Also on Tuesday night, have your DVR ready because there will be plenty to record. The iconic Whoopi Goldberg will be on the Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon. And later that night, the always-funny Melissa McCarthy will be on the Late Late Show with James Corden. Melissa McCarthy is making the Late Late Show her unofficial late night home. It makes sense. McCarthy is always one of Corden’s favorite substitute hosts anytime he’s off for an extended amount of time.

Wednesday is a great night for guests that cover different eras of comedy. Stephen Colbert has one of the original Kings of Comedy, Cedric the Entertainer on the Late Show. At the same time, Jimmy Fallon welcomes the multiple Emmy Award winning co-creator of “Schitt’s Creek“, Dan Levy to the Tonight Show.

And also at the same time, Jimmy Kimmel has comedy film legend and Academy Award winner, Goldie Hawn. She’ll be on JKL to promote her new holiday comedy movie, “The Christmas Chronicles 2” co-starring her partner of 37 years, Kurt Russell. The Hollywood super couple reprise their roles of Santa and Mrs. Claus in the new sequel.

On Thursday night, Sarah Silverman will appear on Conan. Hopefully Sarah will have some details for Team Coco about the Amazon Prime ensemble comedy special she’ll be part of at the end of this year. Sarah Silverman and other leading female comedy voices will be part of “Yearly Departed” where some of our top women comics deliver eulogies to 2020 at the end of December.

Appearing with Sarah Silverman in the Amazon Prime special will be fabulously funny names like Tiffany Haddish, Patti Harrison and Natasha Leggero among others. “Yearly Departed” will be available for streaming on December 30th and it will be hosted by Phoebe Robinson and it’s executive produced for Amazon Prime by Mrs. Maisel herself, Rachel Brosnahan.

Friday evening, it’s the season finale of Real Time with Bill Maher. It’s Bill’s final chance of the year to let his favorite comedy punching bag, President Trump have it for losing the election. Bill Maher and Real Time will back for its new season on HBO in January in time for President-Elect Joe Biden’s inauguration. Hmm, wonder if Trump will be there!?

Finally, on Saturday night, SNL will be doing an encore presentation of Bill Burr’s hosting debut from October 10, 2020. SNL is always better when an actual comedian hosts the show and Bill Burr is one of the best actual comedians working today. The musical guest for this Saturday Night Live repeat will be Jack White, who was a last minute fill-in when scheduled musical guest, country superstar Morgan Wallen broke the strict NBC – SNL Covid19 protocols.

There’s plenty of comedy in late night this week, so laugh it up fuzzballs. That’s if you happen to be a Wookie.
