Ali Wong Announces New Project!

Ali Wong has announced that she’s branching out into the world of writing. It was announced yesterday that Wong will be teaming up with publisher Random House to release a book of essays in 2018. The book will consist of letters that Wong has written to her now one-year-old daughter, sharing personal anecdotes and giving sage advice for her (and soon, the world) to use later on down the line. The collection promises to be personal and hilarious, featuring a ton of content that Wong has never found suitable for her stand-up routine.
“This is a book about my life offstage,” said Wong in a statement. “I’m very excited to share all of these stories about my childhood, dating, and failure that I’ve never been able to tell onstage. I have so many but they are just not right for stand-up. However, they are perfect for a book and a great way to make people laugh in their own homes… without me having to leave my own home.”
While little else is known about the book, it’s exciting news for fans of who many have called one of the best new faces on the comedy scene. The as-yet-unnamed collection will be released sometime in 2018.
Ali Wong has been busy the past few years. The comedian, actress and writer has had a hand in a wide variety of projects, from voice acting on BoJack Horseman and The Angry Birds Movie, starring on the ABC sitcom American Housewife, and writing for the hit show Fresh Off the Boat. Perhaps most of all, Wong has been making waves with her comedy; her first Netflix special, Ali Wong: Baby Cobra, was one of the service’s most critically acclaimed specials in 2016.
