Check Out the Jam-Packed New York Comedy Festival Lineup

For the past 12 years, the folks at the New York Comedy Festival have organized one of the most entertaining and talent-packed festivals in the country. Well, the festival’s organizers have slowly but surely been releasing information on this year’s lineup, and it looks like they’ve managed to one-up themselves this time around.
This year’s festival is so loaded with quality content that we truly don’t now where to start in covering it all. The first day’s events alone could form their own festival and it’d be worth whatever price they charged at the door. The six-day event will feature over 80+ shows at some of the city’s best comedy venues; don’t sleep on this one!
Here are some of the acts that we’re particularly excited about. Remember, these shows are only a few of the huge offering of performances that will be going on that week, so be sure to check out the New York Comedy Festival’s http://nycomedyfestival.com (website) to see all of the shows that they will have to offer.
Big Jay Oakerson and Dan Soder will be kicking things off on Tuesday, November 1st at the Village Underground, where they’ll be recording not one but two live episodes of their popular SiriusXM show The Bonfire.
The Interrobang’s own Comedy 101: Tell a Joke or Be a Joke event https://theinterrobang.com/comedy-101-coming-new-york-comedy-festival/ (will be taking to the stage) at The Village Underground immediately following The Bonfire.
A conversation with the Writers of The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, a panel featuring series creators Tina Fey and Robert Carlock, will be taking place Saturday, November 5th at 92Y.
Comedian Tim Dillon, of GaS Digital’s Tim Dillon is Going to Hell podcast, will be hosting a NYC bus tour like you’ve never seen before. The Real New York Tour will feature Dillon and a few of his comic friends waxing poetic about the Big Apple as they narrate a tour of NYC from the top of a double-decker bus.
Gilbert Gottfried will be recording an episode of his podcast, Gilbert Gottfried’s Amazing colossal Podcast, live from Carolines on Broadway alongside special guest Whoopi Goldberg.
Stand Up For Heroes, the annual veteran’s benefit concert, will be going down on November 1st at the Theater at Madison Square Garden. Arguably one of the festival’s flagship events, this massive benefit show will feature Louis C.K., Jon Stewart, Jerry Seinfeld, Jim Gaffigan and Bruce Springsteen.
Legion of Skanks will be hosting a free show on Wednesday, November 2nd at The Creek and The Cave.
Liza Treygor and Friends will be putting on a show on Wednesday, November 2nd at Union Hall. The “friends” consist of Dan Soder, Matteo Lane, Annie Lederman, Jared Freid, Ricky Velez, Lil Freckles and Chris Distefano.
Patton Oswalt will be performing on November 3rd at the Beacon Theater. Performing at the same time over at The Gramercy Theater will be Lebanese/American comedian and pioneer of the Middle Eastern comedy movement, Nemr Abou Nassar.
Eric Andre will be doing a residency at Carolines on Broadway from November 3rd – 6th, with multiple shows on the 4th and the 5th.
Comedy Central will be hosting a Comics to Watch comedy showcase at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in Chelsea on November 3rd that will feature some of the best up-and-coming stand-up/sketch artists, all hand-picked by Comedy Central.
Bridget Everett will be performing at Town Hall on November 3rd.
Baron Vaughn and Open Mike Eagle will be performing their show, The New Negroes, at the Bell House on November 3rd.
Those are just a handful of the epicly hilarious performances that are scheduled to go down during the festival. Some of the country’s best stand-ups will be helping to round out the festival, including Hannibal Buress, Cameron Esposito, Fred Armisen, Bill Maher, TJ Miller, Jay Pharoah, Marc Maron, Chris D’elia, Tim Minchin, Joe DeRosa, Hasan Minhaj, James Davis, Dane Cook, Rea Butcher, Trevor Noah, Tig Notaro and many, many more.
While the festival boasts some great stand-up shows, it’s also jam-packed with sketch shows and podcasts that will be going on throughout the week. On top of shows like Gilbert Gottfried’s Amazing Colossal Podcast and Legion of Skanks, the festival will also feature shows like Harmontown, The Fighter and The Kid, Petey’s World, It’s a Guy Thing, and a few others.
With a little over a month to go until the NYCF begins, there’s plenty of time to mull over which of the multitude of brilliant shows you will go see. For more information on dates, locations and ticket prices, head on over to the festival’s website.
