Watch Taran Killam Leave SNL “Hard Knocks” Style

Back in early August, it was announced that Taran Killam’s contract wasn’t being renewed at Saturday Night Live. That was the polite way of saying he was fired from SNL. Being a cast member on the 41 year old comedy show can be a grind with a grueling schedule that wears a body down. As Taran Killam leaves the series, he knows he’s had his share of SNL hard knocks. That’s why he’s saying so long in a video called “Live Knocks: Saying Goodbye To SNL” released earlier this week.
Of course, Taran Killam was going to turn his farewell to Saturday Night Live into comedy, especially since he didn’t get to say goodbye on the live show. He does that in “Live Knocks” which is a parody of the HBO NFL series “Hard Knocks”. Complete with voice-over work done by Liev Schreiber (the voice of Hard Knocks), Taran Killam is the cagey veteran who’s seen better days on SNL. He describes himself like an aging athlete, except in his case, “the ideas don’t come so fast, the wigs start fitting a little looser. and you find yourself thinking, I can’t possibly come up with another silly voice”. After 6 years, Taran Killam is now a free agent.

This comedy player won’t be sitting on the beach for long though. His new movie, “Brother Nature” comes out this Friday. He’s directing the film “Why We’re Killing Gunther” starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and he’s starring in the upcoming Showtime series, “Mating”.
Watch below to see the 6 season star of SNL, talk about his years on the show while he cleans out his dressing room and office on “Live Knocks”. Also, on the more sweet and serious side, Taran posted some goodbyes on his Instagram account. Well, they’re more sweet and serious if you just ignore the shameless plugs.
