New Triumph The Insult Comic Dog Election Special Premieres Today On Hulu

It’s been a busy summer for political correspondents, even the ones that are insult comic dog puppets.

Triumph the Insult Comic Dog is debuting his brand new campaign special today on Hulu. “Triumph’s Summer Election Special 2016” has the insult comic dog and his alter ego Robert Smigel, the man literally behind the canine, on the road and visiting both political conventions. This is a full service political report for the streaming service. In the hour long special, Triumph goes to Cleveland to talk to Republicans about their nominee, Donald J. Trump. He also infiltrates the DNC in disguise as a certain Democratic National Committee head who resigned in disgrace. Triumph the Insult Comic Dog is all over the 2016 campaign as he hits the streets to speak with protesters, holds his own focus groups and gives insights into the electoral college map that involve touching and rubbing. The new Triumph special even makes political history by getting a smile out of CNN’s Wolf Blitzer.

The dog puppet explained why this special is so important in a press release, “The world needs this desperately,” Triumph said from behind a female Corgi. “Nothing makes sense right now. A craven bully is a nominee. I’m talking, of course, about myself.”

Triumph’s new special is a follow-up to the “Triumph Primary Election Special 2016” which debuted on Hulu back in February and back when there were still several candidates running for the White House. In that special, he visited the caucus and primary states of Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina. Both specials were produced for Hulu with their comedy content partner Funny or Die. The new special is executive produced by Robert Smigel and Funny Or Die’s Anna Wenger and Mike Farah, plus Sue Fellows and long time insult comic dog lover, Conan O’Brien.
