David Spade Will Be Roastmaster for Rob Lowe

Each year, Comedy Central announces which celebrity will have the honor (and misfortune) of being roasted by some of comedy’s most elite performers. With that announcement also comes the crowning of a new Roastmaster, an officiant who leads the mob that is the roasters dais as they lovingly and metaphorically tear into the Charlie Sheens and Justin Biebers of the world.
Kevin Hart, Seth Rogen, Jane Lynch and Seth MacFarlane were the most recent to hold the prestigious title, and now Comedy Central has announced the Roastmaster in charge of this year’s Roast of Rob Lowe: David Spade.
Spade, best known for his turn on Saturday Night Live and his roles in Tommy Boy and Joe Dirt, will have the honor of introducing this year’s roastee and one of Hollywood’s greatest pretty-boys, Rob Lowe. As is tradition, Spade will introduce Lowe, then deliver the opening set of the night before introducing the panel of roasters, the members of which have not yet been announced.
Comedy Central’s Roast of Rob Lowe will take place on Saturday, August 27th at Sony Studios in Los Angeles and will make its television premiere on Monday, September 5th at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
