The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that MADtv veteran Ike Barinholtz has joined the cast of Amy Schumer’s new film at Fox. Very little is known about the film, other than the fact that it’s a mother-daughter comedy (with Schumer as the daughter and Goldie Hawn as the mother,) and that it will be an action-comedy in a manner similar to The Heat. The similarities are not coincidence, as The Heat director Paul Feig will be producing the show, with Jonathan Levine directing.

Barinholtz will play Schumer’s brother in the unnamed movie, which begins filming next month. The actor and writer has been keeping busy this year: On top of the new show with Schumer, Barinholtz has reprised his roles as Nurse Morgan in the current season of The Mindy Project and as best friend Jimmy in the upcoming Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising, which comes out this Friday. The actor also has a role in this summer’s blockbuster anti-hero movie, Suicide Squad, which is rumored to be the notorious psychologist Dr. Hugo Strange.

Barinholtz also wrote, along with partner David Stassen, the action-comedy Central Intelligence, starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and comedian Kevin Hart. That film is set for release June 17th.

The film will be Schumer’s first feature outing since last summer’s Trainwreck, which the comedian wrote and Judd Apatow directed.
