Shlesinger Will Pen Memoir For Weinstein Books

Already a familiar face at comedy clubs nationwide and fresh off her debut on TBS as the hostess of a new game show, Iliza Shlesinger will join the legion of literary luminaries next spring with the arrival of her memoir, Girl Logic.
Weinstein Books has announced it will be publishing Girl Logic, Shlesinger’s first book, which is scheduled for release in spring 2017. The book will include essays, behind-the-scenes looks at the worlds of comedy and television, and personal observations “explaining why women are so confusing to everyone, including themselves,” according to Deadline.com.
“I think women are chastised constantly. We’re put down for being fat, we’re put down for being thin, for being ugly or being good looking. There’s very little women can do to not be called crazy or be put down just for existing,” she told Deadline. “The book is about saying we’re all on the same side. And this is for men, too. It’s about standing up for yourself.”
Shlesinger first garnered national attention when she won Last Comic Standing in 2008. Since then, she has done two comedy specials for Netflix and has developed a dedicated fan following through her work on social media and her podcast, Truth and Iliza.
The announcement of the upcoming memoir came one day after Shlesinger’s new game show, Separation Anxiety, premiered on TBS on March 8. Like a modern-day version of The Newlywed Game, the show features couples who are individually asked a series of questions. However, one contestant thinks the prize is $250, while the other knows the true value of the prize, which can be as much as $250,000. She previously hosted the dating game show Excused.
