Craig Ferguson Doesn’t Miss Hosting a Late Night Show

In his first late night talk show appearance since he left his own show, Craig Ferguson talked with Seth Meyers last night about his brand new one hour comedy special, “Craig Ferguson:  Just Being Honest” which airs on EPIX tonight. He told Seth that he doesn’t miss hosting his own show at all, except for one thing–  Trump.  “[Trump] is the only thing that makes me miss late night,” Ferguson said. “I was like ‘oh come on are you kidding me!?’ It was like when Dick Cheney shot his lawyer in the face and you’re like ‘that’s beautiful! I have to go to work!”  But he’s glad to be rid what he calls “the whole coming in and going ‘oh guess what now, new movie…bahhhhhhh.”

Ferguson, who stepped down from his own Late Night talk show in December 2015, also said he thinks he stayed with the Late Late Show about 3 years too long.  He told Seth in an ‘after the interview, interview’ that he had planned to walk away three years ago but they asked him to stick around, offering him more money.

Craig and Seth also talked about the business of show, and whose and asshole and who is nice.  Craig talked about one asshole guest, but wouldn’t give a name.  He said, “I had one guy who was such a dick, even on the air, I  thought oh man you must be like a cataclysmic *&^%$^&$# when you’re just in your regular life.”  We also found out that when you’re a total asshole who has been told you have to be nice, but it’s so hard for you to do that you’re practically shaking, that’s called a Chevy Chase.

Craig Ferguson’s new special premieres TONIGHT on EPIX. Read our preview of the special and find out why Craig thinks Mick Jagger is afraid of Keith Richards.
