Mike Epps To Star In ABC’s “Uncle Buck” Pilot

Mike Epps’ schedule keeps getting busier. He’s going to work on the new Lee Daniels biopic where he’s starring as legendary comedian Richard Pryor. He recently launched his AOL original series, “That’s Racist”. And now, Mike Epps is set to star in the “Uncle Buck” pilot for ABC. The pilot is based on the 1989 comedy starring John Candy and written and directed by John Hughes.
Epps will play the title character who is an overgrown man child who has to mature quickly when he’s left in charge of his brother’s kids. According to Deadline, the cast for the “Uncle Buck” pilot also Nia Long (Big Momma’s House, Friday, Are We There yet?) and will be produced by Will Packer who has produced Kevin Hart films including “Ride Along” and “The Wedding Ringer”.
When ABC first announced plans for an “Uncle Buck” pilot and possible series, it was met with criticism from the families of John Candy and John Hughes. The families said neither the late actor nor the late director would approve of the project.
