Mike Myers And HBO Decide To Be Exclusive

Mike Myers has inked a two year deal with Home Box Office that includes “TV exclusivity”. HBO didn’t mention what content that Myers would be providing for their television programming, or whether it would be using Michaels talents behind, in front of the camera or both.
Michael Lombardo, the President of HBO, said, “Mike Myers is one of the great comedy minds of this or any other era. The opportunity to collaborate with a talent of his stature is tremendously exciting.”
Myers returned the sentiment saying, “I’m thrilled to be at HBO”. This is the latest development of an entertainment company locking in a performer for a long term deal. Last October, Netflix put together an agreement with Adam Sandler to star in 4 films which will be exclusive to the streaming service, and yesterday Amazon announced that they were bringing Woody Allen on board to create an unspecified project.
As for the HBO TV deal, there’s no definitive word on if Myers’ involvement will include a starring role. His last film appearances (outside of voicing a gruff, but lovable ogre) were 2009’s “Inglourious Basterds” where he appeared in walk on part and “The Love Guru” in 2008, his last live action lead movie role.
Myers has added the title of director to his resume with last year’s documentary release of “Supermensch: The Legend of Shep Gordon” about the legendary Hollywood talent manager and film agent.
