Trailer Park Boys Actress Quits Show Over Bubbles’ Arrest
After Mike Smith, who plays Bubbles on Trailer Park Boys, was arrested for assaulting a woman, actress Lucy DeCoutere has said she’s quit the show. DeCoutere plays Ricky’s on again/off again wife on the show.
On Saturday she tweeted, “If I find out that somebody is abusive, I cut them out of my life. it’s very easy.” Hours later she tweeted “I have resigned from Trailer Park Boys.”
DeCoutere received some backlash from fans following her decision to quit. She denied allegations that she was already planning to leave the show after Season 10 and assured fans that the cast and crew of Trailer Park Boys are still her friends, and that there are no hard feelings over her decision to leave the show. She also responded to the negative and positive responses to her decision, saying, “I am floored by the hundreds of derogatory, cruel and heartless messages I’ve read. For those who are being kind? Rock on! You make TPB fun.”
Her decision comes on the heels of reports that Smith allegedly assaulted a woman near the pool of his Los Angeles hotel. Witnesses reported hearing Smith argue with a female friend, and claim they heard her shout “you’re choking me” before seeing her pinned against a wall by Smith. He was arrested at 1:15am on Friday on misdemeanor assault charges.
Smith released a written statement after his arrest. “At no time did I assault her. I am not guilty of the misdemeanor charged against me.”
