Tony Hale and Larry David Show Up on SNL as Julia Louis-Dreyfus Hosts

Last night Julia Louis-Dreyfus returned to 30 Rock last night to host Saturday Night Live, the show that gave her, her television debut. Louis-Dreyfus didn’t get much air time back in the 80’s when she was a castmember- the show either wasn’t a good fit or show’s producers just didn’t know how to use her. But everything worked out fine, she went on to become a giant success on shows like Seinfeld, The New Adventures of Old Christine, and Veep. And last night’s show was full of winks and nods and outright homages to her lack of success on SNL and gigantic post-SNL career, including visits from Seinfeld’s co-creator Larry David, and Veep co-host Tony Hale.  And she scored the line of the night saying about Nick Jonas, “I’m going to fuck that kid” at the end of digital short.

Larry David Brings George Into His Bern Routine and Elaine Benes  and George Costanza Reunite

Lah David as his alter ego Bernie Sanders, appeared in the cold open taking on the New York Democratic Debates. Louis-Dreyfus showed up in character as Seinfeld’s Elaine Benes to ask Bern a few questions. There were Seinfeld references a plenty including a Yadda Yadda Yadda, and plenty of George delivery including everyone’s favorite line– “George is getting upset!”

Tony Hale Helps Out With SNL Monologue

Julia’s monologue brought on the opportunity to joke about her less than successful run at SNL, as Julia shared a retrospective of her most famous characters on the show. Don’t blink, or you’ll miss it. But her monologue also brought about the opportunity for another giant cameo. Veep co-star Tony Hale who was in quasi-character holding up cue cards for Julia.

Julia Louis Dreyfus: I’m Going to Fuck that Kid

Not every sketch last night landed, but the best one of the night undoubtably goes to the host. Pete Davidson joined Louis-Dreyfus in a digital short about a suburban bored housewife trying to end an affair with her clueless 22 year old pool boy. Special guest appearance by Nick Jonas as the hot new landscaper. Spoiler alert: Louis-Dreyfus lands the line of the night with “I’m going to F*ck that kid.”
