Ricky Gervais And BBC Producing David Brent Movie
Ricky Gervais is working on a feature film project which he’ll star in as David Brent, the character he created for the original BBC version of “The Office”. The movie being produced by Gervais along with the BBC, will catch up with David Brent 15 years after the character left the Wernham Hogg Paper Company to pursue his dreams of being a rock star.
According to Variety, the movie will be another mockumentary. David Brent believes it to be a rockumentary, like Martin Scorsese’s Rolling Stones documentary “Shine a Light”. However, the movie inside the movie turns out to be a “Where are they now?” doc, following up with the characters from the original “The Office” series. Throughout the film, Brent is seen working as a travelling salesman in order to finance his own British concert tour.
The BBC’s “The Office” ran for two 6 episode seasons along with 2 Christmas specials from 2001 to 2003. The “David Brent” movie project is set to go into production next year.
