Janeane Garofalo: “Wet Hot American Summer” Series Production Starting

Last Summer, it was announced that a prequel mini-series to the 2001 comedy “Wet Hot American Summer” might be in the works at Netflix. Now, Janeane Garofalo has confirmed that the series is for real and production is scheduled to start this month.

Janeane, who played Beth the Camp Firewood director, told Jeffrey Gurian from TheInterrobang.com that the cast starts shooting this month in Calabasas, California. Garofalo confirmed that Amy Poehler, Bradley Cooper, Elizabeth Banks, Ken Marino, Chris Meloni, and Michael Ian Black along with Janeane herself were all coming back for the SNetflix comedy mini-series.

Leading the project is the original director and co-writer of the film, David Wain. Despite 14 years having passed since “Wet Hot American Summer” was released, the Netflix series is actually a prequel, set on the first day of Summer camp– two months before the events of the original film. No release date has been set for the Netflix premiere.
