Inside Amy Schumer Grabs First Emmy at Last Night’s Creative Emmy Awards

Last night the Creative Emmys were held in downtown Los Angeles. Awards were given out for specialized categories like title design, theme music, outstanding picture editing, cinematography, make up design, costume design, and hairstyling, among others.

The Saturday Night Live 40th Anniversary Special snagged four Creative Emmys, plus another two for good old fashioned SNL, Transparent was the recipient of three awards, and Silicon Valley took home two as well.

Joan Cusak grabbed an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for her role on Shameless. Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series went to Bradley Whitford for his role on Amazon’s Transparent. Veep won for Outstanding Casting in a Comedy Series beating out Louie, Modern Family, Transparent and Unbreakeable Kimmy Schmidt.

And the award for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics went to Inside Amy Schumer for the song Girl You Don’t Need Makeup. This is the first Emmy for the show that is now in it’s third season, but everyone’s expecting the show to grab a few more at next week’s 2015 Prime Time Emmy Awards ceremony.  Kyle Dunnigan and Jim Roach grabbed the award for writing the music and lyrics to “Girl”. Although he wasn’t included on the official award listing, the concept for the song came from Kurt Metzger who also co-wrote the song.  Amy Schumer gave credit to Metgzer for his song on twitter last night.

Girl You Don’t Need Makeup aired on April 28th 2015, the second episode i Season 3.

The evening’s events will air on September 19th on FXX, followed by the Prime Time Emmy’s ceremony next Sunday night, September 20th.
