David Letterman Pops Up At IndyCar Finale

The co-owner of Rahal-Letterman-Lanigan Racing made an appearance at this weekend’s IndyCar Grand Prix Of Sonoma. The recently-retired Letterman had nothing but praise for his driver, Graham Rahal, even though a crash in the previous race reduced his chances of winning the title. However, Dave told NBCSN in an in-race interview that regardless of how the season turned out, the momentum his team had made them winners going into the offseason, with the single-car operation competing alongside multi-car giants like Team Penske and Chip Ganassi Racing. In the end, Ganassi’s Scott Dixon would tie on points with Penske’s Juan Pablo Montoya, but secured the most-wins tiebreaker by winning the race, thus winning the Astor Cup. Rahal would finish 18th after getting punted by Sebastian Bourdais late in the race, ending the season fourth on the table.

But Graham Rahal still has a lot to be proud of: He’s organizing a massive eBay auction to help raise funds for the family of fallen racer Justin Wilson, just as he did for the family of Dan Weldon.
