Dave Chappelle Working Out Material at the Cutting Room

Dave Chappelle is one of the hottest tickets in comedy today- routinely selling out gigantic stretches at huge theaters. So getting to catch him in a club, is a little bit like seeing Springsteen do a set at the Stone Pony. Showbiz 411’s Roger Friedman went to see Chappelle at New York City’s “The Cutting Room” Sunday night, getting ready for his short run at the Gramercy later this week. He did over an hour.

Even in the small venue, Friedman said Chappelle kept his practice of asking the audience to give up their cell phones during the show- including his own. He also warned the audience that it would be a racist show and talked about Black Lives Matter, Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton, and more.

Normally when you get the heads up that your favorite comic was on stage at a small club, you find out too late to check it out for yourself, but Friedman says Dave will be back at the Cutting Room this Wednesday night working on some things before heading overseas.
