Birdman Grabs Four Golden Globe Comedy Nominations

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are returning as host of the Golden Globes on Sunday, January 11th. The nominations are out and they can start working on their monologue now that they know which victims will be in the audience that night.  Dark comedy “Birdman” leads the comedy nominations count with 4, including Best Motion Picture, Best Actor in a Comedy Motion Picture for Michael Keaton, and Best Supporting Role for both Ed Norton and Emma Stone.

Here are the nod given out from the Hollywood Foreign Press for the comedy categories.

For Best Motion Picture for a Comedy or Musical, the nominees include “Birdman”, “The Grand Budapest Hotel”, “Into the Woods”, “Pride” and “St. Vincent”.

The Best Actor in a Comedy or Musical Motion Pictures nominees are Ralph Fiennes, “The Grand Budapest Hotel”, Michael Keaton, “Birdman”, Bill Murray, “St. Vincent”, Joaquin Phoenix, “Inherent Vice” and Christoph Waltz, “Big Eyes”.

For the actresses, the nominations include Amy Adams, “Big Eyes”, Emily Blunt, “Into the Woods”, Helen Mirren, “The Hundred-Foot Journey”, Julianne Moore, “Maps to the Stars” and Quvenzhane Wallis, “Annie”.

Edward Norton and Emma Stone were also nominated in the supporting role categories for the comedy, “Birdman”.

For the TV celebrities that sit in the back of the room, here’s the nominees that could be taking the long walk to the stage.

For Best Actor in a TV Comedy, the nominees are Louis C.K., “Louie”, Don Cheadle, “House of Lies”, Ricky Gervais, “Derek”, William H. Macy, “Shameless” and Jeffrey Tambor, “Transparent”.

Nominees for actress in a TV Comedy include Lena Dunham, “Girls”, Edie Falco, “Nurse Jackie”, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, “Veep”, Gina Rodriguez, “Jane the Virgin” and Taylor Schilling, “Orange is the New Black”.

And for Best TV Comedy Series, your nominees are “Girls”, “Jane the Virgin”, “Orange is the New Black”, “Silicon Valley” and “Transparent”.

The 72nd Golden Globe Awards are presented Sunday, January 11th on NBC.
