Why Does No One Care That College Football Games Are So Damn Long?
You’ve heard everyone bitch about how long baseball games are, or some NASCAR races, or even NCAA basketball tournament games. The NHL tightened up games after the big lockout ten years ago, and the NBA has experimented with shorter periods in the preseason. But college football? The sport is already scheduled for a three-and-a-half-hour window, and according to the Wall Street Journal, 66 games THIS SEASON have already ran past that mark, and six have lasted more than four hours. That’s way longer than the NFL, which has consistently averaged just over three hours for twenty years, and has had only four four-hour games in that time.
