Who is On Late Night Tonight in Comedy: Week of May 27, 2019

Who’s on Late Night Tonight in Comedy?

Just about all of our late night talkers are kicking off the first official week of summer by going on vacation. Except for one extraordinary man, who’s working extra this week, Jimmy Kimmel. Okay, it’s not a lot of extra work because he’s taking most of the week off from his regular Jimmy Kimmel Live gig on ABC. But he’s making it up for it with the return of “Jimmy Kimmel Live: Game Night!

The NBA Finals start this week on ABC with the always returning champions, the Golden State Warriors and Steph Curry facing the Toronto Rapters who are in the finals for the very first time. As always, Jimmy Kimmel is back as part of NBA Finals-Fever! Each night that there’s an NBA Finals game, Kimmel will air a half-hour of “Jimmy Kimmel Live: Game Night” as part of the pre-game show. Game 1 is this Thursday and Kimmel’s guests on JKL:GN will be Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston who will be promoting their new Netflix comedy movie, “Murder Mystery” which is available for streaming on Friday, June 14th.

Jimmy Kimmel is back for another pre-game episode of “Jimmy Kimmel Live: Game Night” this coming Sunday before Game 2 of the NBA Finals with special guest LL Cool J. Make sure to set your DVRs to catch everything before the NBA games this week.

The rest of the week is pretty much reruns in late nights, but these repeats are filled with some very funny “Best Of” guests in late night. Here’s some highlights for the late night leftovers. On Monday, catch stand up for the second time around from Leonard Ouzts on a repeat of the Tonight Show. Also Colin Quinn is on a Late Night repeat and Pete Holmes is featured on a rerun of the Late Late Show with James Corden.

On Tuesday, there’s an encore of Mark Normand’s most recent stand up set on Conan. While Wednesday brings us repeats of Conan with John Mulaney and the Late Show with Stephen Colbert with his guests, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and the cast of the HBO Emmy winning sitcom “Veep.”

Good news on Thursday, there’s fresh late night comedy with Jimmy Kimmel Live, which will be starting just after midnight following Game 1 of the NBA Finals. On the regular late night version of JKL, Jimmy Kimmel’s guest will be the always funny in late night, Zach Galifianakis who be promoting the Season 4 premiere of “Baskets” on FX which returns with Louis Anderson and new episodes on Thursday, June 13th. Zach may also be talking about Netflix turning his Emmy Award winning Funny or Die series, “Between Two Ferns” into a movie. Read more about Netflix announcing the inevitable “Between Two Ferns” movie here on the Interrobang.

Meanwhile back in rerun-land on Thursday, Jimmy Fallon will be re-airing Phil Hanley’s stand up performance from earlier in the month on a Tonight Show repeat.

Heading into the weekend, Bill Maher is at work this week with a new episode of Real Time on HBO on Friday night at 10pm. Drink if he mentions “Trump.” Then on Saturday, SNL‘s summer of repeats is already well underway. This weekend’s rerun is a show that originally aired just 3 weeks earlier. It’s hosted by Emma Thompson with musical guests Jonas Brothers. Lorne Michaels must be working backwards through last season to schedule all his repeats. He’s starting with the freshest shows first. Hopefully, we hear something soon on who’s staying and who’s going at Saturday Night Live.

Treat yourself. Stay up late and catch some comedy TV. Remember, you can always sleep at work.
