Who is Hosting Saturday Night Live Tonight: January 21, 2017

Who is Hosting SNL tonight? Aziz Ansari

Saturday Night Live is Live tonight and there are a few things you can count on.  One of those things is that Aziz Ansari is hosting the show for the first time ever.  Ansari hails from the Upright Citizens Brigade, and is an internationally touring headliner so you can be sure he knows how to hold his own in sketches, and should be able to deliver a killer monolog.

Aziz has been working out his monolog in clubs all over in New York for the last week or so, including an appearance at what we’ve dubbed “Comedy Woodstock” at the New York Comedy Cellar along with Dave Chappelle, Chris Rock, Amy Schumer, and Jerry Seinfeld.  Aziz has a lot to live up to. Not only is it his first SNL appearance, but as T.J. Miller pointed out on stage at UCB’s Whiplash on Monday night, Ansari knows that the President will absolutely be watching SNL this week, knowing the first post-inauguration episode will undoubtedly be covering Friday’s events.

Which brings up a few more things you are likely to see on SNL tonight.  An Alec Baldwin appearance is all but guaranteed. We think you can count on a Bane appearance or at least a Bane mask.  A sketch or digital short that will involve all of the women in the cast taking part in today’s march is a likely topic for tonight’s show,  and you can count on plenty of references to the inauguration of Donald J. Trump.  Maybe a Trump family inner monologue sketch while sitting at the National multi-denominational prayer service this morning?  Will we get an appearance from Aziz’s awesome dad who has appeared on late night with Aziz?

Aziz is ready for it all, as you can see from his SNL promo this week. Ansari makes his way through SNL preparations (another appearance from Wally the Cue Card guy!), badass and making moves, and taking very important calls.

He’s sharing the stage with musical guest Big Sean, and Medium Kate is ready too.

Saturday Night Live airs LIVE tonight at 11:30pm in the East.
