Saturday Night Live is back live tonight after a long covid/Christmas break. Its episode 9 or 10, depending if you count the hybrid episode hosted by Paul Rudd. Ariana Debose is hosting with musical guest Bleachers, filling in for Roddy Ricch after a recent Covid diagnosis.
Devose recently starred as Anita in Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story gaining widespread critical acclaim. And she’s a certified broadway star, appearing in Bring it On, Motown the Musical and Pippin before graduating to starring as Donna Summer in Summer: The Donna Musical.
It’s Ariana’s first time hosting Saturday Night Live, but not her first time stepping in the Lorne-verse. DeBose co-starred in Apple TV+ musical comedy series Schmigadoon as town school marm, where she shared many scenes with Cecily Strong.
In the new promo for this week’s episode, Debose teases Bowen Yang about his new haircut and lack of New Years resolutions, and Yang teases Bleacher’s lead singer about the name of the band.. You can watch it above.
