Saturday Night Live is back live tonight after a few weeks off. Its episode 8 of season 47. Billie Eilish is serving as both host and musical guest- an event that isn’t quite as rare as it used to be, but its still somewhat uncommon. In the new promo for the episode, Eilish appears with Kate McKinnon who we haven’t seen in a minute, thanks to a deal she made after the pandemic began to allow her to work on other projects without leaving the cast.
Billie isn’t even 20 years old yet, and she’s already a major celebrity. The singer songwriter debuted her first single six years ago when she was only 14 and her first studio album debuted just two years ago, but now she’s famous enough that even a hair color change makes major headlines (Eilish went blond earlier this year and just caused a social media event when she dyed it back to black). Eilish has won seven Grammy Awards in her short history and is the youngest artist in Grammy history to win four general categories in the same year. This year she was added into the Time 100 list.
This will be Billie’s first turn as host of Saturday Night Live, but its not her first time on the show. Back in 2019, she appeared as musical guest, performing an acrobatic performance of “Bad Guy” in a rotating set that took some doing to pull off.
In the new promo for this week’s episode, Kate McKinnon teases her about her age, and shares a story about tumtim an elf who sneaks into Kate’s apartment and ties her cats tails together. You can watch it below.
