In another case of music’s elder states-women calling out modern pop stars, (check out Chrissie Hynde’s comments yesterday) Grace Jone’s has stated in her new memoir that artists like Miley Cyrus, Rihanna and Rita Ora are not challenging the status quo with their style and music. Jones writes, “You are in the middle of the road. You are really in Vegas wearing the sparkly full-length gown singing to people who are paying to see you but are not really paying attention. If that is what you want, fine, but it’s a road to nowhere.” To be fair, maybe Grace Jones hadn’t seen that new Miley Cyrus video where she eats glittery poop yet.
