Wednesday Night (Tonight)! Ladies of Laughter National Competition Honors Jessica Kirson

The Ladies of Laughter national competition and tour is taking place virtually this year with the final show taking place tonight, May 19th. Funny women from all over the country have been Zooming in with their personal brand of humor through video shorts, storytelling, and tonight’s final show features stand-up comedy. Comedians will compete for the Ladies of Laughter Stand-Up title. The event will also present the Ladies of Laughter Spirit Award to Jessica Kirson who has inspired and supported women in comedy. Carol Burnett has the honor of being the previous recipient. And winners from the preliminary storytelling and video short competitions will be featured as well.

Audiences will be able to link into the event and also participate in the judging at 7:30 pm ET with host Erin Jackson. Participating in the event are newcomers Julia Biedrzycki, Zarna Garg, Sarah Shackleton, Marcela Onyango, Morgan Gallo, Meka Mo, Akua Doku, Carly Polistina and Gina Dimaggio, and pros Vanessa Jackson, Alyse Kenny, Sarah Perry, Emily Epstein White, Natalie Perlin, Kathleen Novotny, Suzanne Stein, Elizabeth Glazer, and Becky Veduccio.

Ladies of Laughter serves as a launching pad for women in comedy by providing theater bookings, publicity, and comedy career opportunities to the best talent discovered through its competition. Past contestants and winners include Amy Schumer, Melissa Rauch, and Tammy Pescatelli, among others.

Those chosen will compete for over $5,000 in stand-up comedy bookings, cash prizes and publicity that will bring women major career-building opportunities. They will forever become part of the Ladies of Laughter comedy family – a prestigious group of accomplished women in comedy.
