Preview HBO Documentary ‘Becoming Mike Nichols’

"The Graduate" Dustin Hoffman, director Mike Nichols 1967 United Artists

Becoming Mike Nichols, is an intimate documentary portrait of a brilliant director, in his historic final filmed appearance. Described as a “master class on his craft” the film will premiere at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival, and then make its broadcast debut on February 22nd, exclusively on HBO.

For six decades Nichols entertained America, broke new ground and inspired artists, first as part of the comedy duo Nichols and May, and later as the extraordinary stage director and filmmaker responsible for films like “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?,” “The Graduate,” “Carnal Knowledge,” “Silkwood” “Working Girl,” and the Emmy award winning series “Wit” and “Angels in America.”

Four months before he died, in a set of final, historic interviews, Nichols opened up to his close friend and colleague, theater director Jack O’Brien, about the storied beginnings of his career, including his comedy collaboration with Elaine May, his direction of two Neil Simon stage classics, and his acclaimed feature-film debut, “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?,” and its follow-up, “The Graduate.”

The documentary will also be available on HBO NOW, HBO GO and HBO On Demand.
