Walmart Blames Tracy Morgan For Car Accident Injuries

Walmart is saying Tracy Morgan and his passengers are at fault — at least in part– for the injuries they sustained in the June 7th six-car accident on the New Jersey turnpike. The company says Tracy and the other passengers in the limo should have been wearing seat belts when it was slammed into from behind by a Walmart operated tractor trailer. The first collision caused a chain reaction of cars hitting each other.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Walmart’s filings as a defendant in a lawsuit claim that Morgan’s injuries “were caused, in whole or in part, by plaintiffs’ failure to properly wear an appropriate available seatbelt restraint device.”

The accident killed comedian James McNair and left others severely injured including Tracy Morgan who is still rehabilitating at home and comedian Ardie Fuqua who is still hospitalized and recovering from brain trauma.

The lawsuit against Walmart claimed negligence on their part. The tractor trailer driver had traveled 700 miles just to start his route and had been up for over 24 hours according to the suit. Walmart tried to distance themselves from the driver as well by saying the company has no control over third parties who may have caused the accident.
