The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Tobey Maguire and Helen Estabrook, producer of the Oscar-winning film Whiplash, are teaming up to adapt a comedy novel for the big screen.

The two have acquired the rights to the novel, I Take You, Eliza Kennedy’s book that received extremely positive reviews for its comedy. The story focuses on Lily, an engaged New York attorney in her 20s who “really, really likes sex with lots of different people,” including her fiancée’s friends, according to The New York Times. As her Florida wedding approaches, Lily fools around and makes drunken missteps, as she questions whether or not she should go through with the wedding to Will, a “brilliant, handsome archeologist.”

The book, which cites Bridesmaids as an influence, is Kennedy’s first novel and only debuted in stores in May. Already, she has signed on to adapt the book into a screenplay for Maguire and Estabrook.

No word on casting, but this project appears to have the makings of another successful female-driven comedy film. Finally, it seems others are catching on to what Paul Feig is doing quite well.
