On July 17th, Netflix will release the documentary, Tig, which focuses on the life and career of comedian Tig Notaro. Tig has been a well-respected stand-up and writer within the comedy scene for some time. In 2012, after she was diagnosed with cancer, she performed an instantly-legendary set at Largo in Los Angeles.
The biggest names in comedy took to Twitter immediately to gush about her performance. Louis C.K. tweeted, “”In 27 years doing this, I’ve seen a handful of truly great, masterful stand-up sets. One was Tig Notaro last night at Largo.” Bill Burr tweeted, “Just saw Tig Notaro at Largo…made me feel like I was an open miker. Absolute genius!” The audio from the set was eventually released as an album, Tig Notari: Live. The documentary will cover this performance, her painful months that led up to the masterful set, and her personal journey.
