The Martian Labeled A Comedy (or Musical) By The Golden Globes

The Martian will likely be getting a nomination at the Golden Globes, and if they do it will be in the Comedy and Musical category. Yes, the movie about a dude being stranded for four months trying to survive on his own on an inhospitable planet is a comedy (or musical).
What’s really weird is that 20th Century Fox submitted the movie as a comedy. There are a few laughs, but most movies have a few laughs don’t they? And Kristin Wiig’s inclusion in the cast might lead you to think comedy, but Wiig’s role is primarily dramatic. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association recently confirmed that they have accepted the film for consideration in the category of Best Comedy/Musical. Not every film that sought categorization as a comedy got what they wished for. Trumbo whose cast includes Bryan Cranston and Louis C.K. was denied comedy eligibility and will be classified as a drama. Trumbo is a biopic about screenwriter Dalton Trumbo and others who were blacklisted for their political beliefs.
Maybe they mixed The Martian up with 1999’s My Favorite Martian or Astronaut Jones?
