The Chris Gethard Show Started Years Ago in New Jersey

If you’re a fan of the Chris Gethard Show (and why wouldn’t you be?) then watching Chris on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night made you realize that Chris has been doing TCGS since he was a kid. He described life growing up in the suburban town of West Orange, New Jersey with the nice people up the hill and the weirdos and drifters hanging out on Main street, which was “down the hill.” Chris told Kimmel about a woman called “dirty toes” who attained double nickname status for spitting at someone and yelling “I am the snake goddess.” Which sounds not unlike something that could happen on an episode of TCGS, except everyone’s toes are pretty clean.
For those unfamiliar with The Chris Gethard Show, he attempted to describe it. “It’s a talk show I think. But we do a lot of out of the box stuff, very interactive, a lot of using the internet to let people guide the show. And it is weird. I won’t lie about that. Two weeks ago I dressed up as a duck, and they were swining me around from the ceiling while people used the camera to shoot a gun at me. And we called it human duck hunt.”
For Kimmel’s audience, he summed it up as “I am both the host and the host and the Guillermo of my own show.”
This week, Gethard taped his show after staying awake for 36 straight hours. Spoiler alert, there’s some crying, maybe even sobbing, with Seth Meyers as a guest.
The Chris Gethard show airs on Thursdays on the Fusion Network at 10pm.
