Fans of The Chris Gethard Show have something big to celebrate today! The Chris Gethard Show has been renewed for a giant second season on the Fusion Network.

Gethard went on Periscope today at 1pm eastern time to make the big announcement. After lamenting that the ‘twinterns fist fight’ got more viewers than his announcement (don’t feel bad, Gethard’s viewer count did catch up), and asking fans to stop calling his hair “Tin Tin” hair, Gethard revealed that The Chris Gethard Show is returning for a season two.

“The rumors are true baby, Ten more episodes this spring.  We’re going to go bigger. We’re going to go bolder,” he said. “The way I’ve been thinking about this is, Season One we had to prove that we deserved it. Now we’ve got it. So now we can really start causing some trouble.”

Gethard had more big news to announce. He said that after receiving tons of fan feedback requesting an hour-long format for the show, “Fusion has heard you, Fusion has listened, they said the Chris Gethard Show will now be an hour long.”

Gethard is making some big promises for Season Two, and if you know him or the show, you know these aren’t empty promises. “As you guys know that’s the exact type of thing that gets my brain going into manic mode,” he said and some of the ideas I’ve already been thinking are going to blow anything we’ve ever done out of the water. Anything we did at UCB, anything we did at public access, anything we did in Season 1.”

The Chris Gethard Show got its start at UCB and grew to become a cult phenomenon on Public Access television in New York City with its bold and creative stunts and conversations, and the most interactive audience in television programming.  The show moved to Fusion in 2015 and along with all TCGS fans, we’ve been waiting for a Season Two announcement since the Season One finale on August 12th.  He made the announcement on Periscope today because he said he wanted to bring the announcement directly to fans first.

There were many questions which he answered live of course.  For example, he said, “everyone who worked on the show is going to have to go through an intense series of intrusive interviews and physical challenges to prove they still belong on the show.” Will Dave Blunt ever get to be himself? “Never.” A Star Wars episode? “I hope so.” Legends of the Hidden Temple Set? “Yes, if it can be found.” A Vacation Jason episode?  “Never.”  If you’re looking for more 90’s nostalgia, Chris said no, he thinks there’s enough of that out there already.  You can watch the full announcement available until 1pm on January 6th at periscope.tv/chrisgethard.
