The ACLU is Going After License Plate Trackers
Automatic License Plate Readers (ALPRs) are a device used by many state and local police to snap photos– as many as 3,000 a minute– of motorists plates and the ACLU is now filing requests in 38 states to find out more about how that data is being used. These photos are becoming records of who was where when, and the ACLU is worried that they are fundamentally threatening our freedom on the open road.
