How Is This Still a Thing? Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue

Last night on This Week Tonight John Oliver asked one of his favorite questions, “How is this still a thing?” about the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. The annual February look at barely dressed super models is still going strong, forcing news and talk shows all over America to bring in famous models as guests, leer at them, and make terrible jokes. Once upon a time, SI used the sneaker phone, the football phone and the swimsuit issues to sell subscriptions. The sneaker phone is long gone, and the football phone has also disappeared, but the swimsuit issue lives on.
How is this still a thing? Well John, that’s easy. It made money for a little while, and once something makes money, we don’t know how to stop.
