Stephen Colbert Announces Late Show Start Date

The pieces are falling into place for the new late night landscape. David Letterman wraps up his 33 years of late night hosting on May 20th, making way for Stephen Colbert at CBS. Colbert announced his start date will be Tuesday, September 8th.
Colbert said, “I have nine months to make a show, just like a baby. So first, I should find out how you make a baby.”
More about the new Late Show with Stephen Colbert was revealed. CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler said that some members of the Colbert Report staff from Comedy Central would be making the jump to the new Late Show. Hopefully, that means Grimmy. Oh wait, he’s dead.
Tassler also confirmed that the Late Show with Stephen Colbert will have music like other late night shows, but she didn’t name an artist as the show’s new music director. She said, “There will be parts that will be traditional, and there will be things he wants to do differently.”
