Source Tells Variety Trevor Noah Being Considered to Host Daily Show

Trevor Noah may have only joined “The Best F*&#ing News Team Ever!” a few months ago, but the South African comedian is already being considered to take over when Jon Stewart leaves the show later this year. According to Variety magazine, a “person familiar with the matter” says Noah is on a short list of potential successors being put together by Comedy Central executives
The internationally reknown comedian was the first South African comedian to appear on both The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and the Late Show with David Letterman, and his Showtime comedy special, Trevor Noah: African American premiered in 2013. He’s smart, and quick, funny and original– everything you would want in a Daily Show host– and has hosted numerous television shows in his native country, including South Africa’s music, television and film awards, the South African Comedy Festival and two seasons of his own late night talk show.
Jon Stewart has held the position of host of the Daily Show for 17 years since taking over the position from Craig Kilborn in January of 1999. Although Stewart hasn’t specified his post-Daily Show plans, Daily Show correspondent Hasan Minhaj told IBang columnist Jeffrey Gurian that Stewart was planning a return to stand up after wrapping up his run as host of The Daily Show. Minhaj came on board the show last December, at the same time as Trevor Noah.
